I highly recommend Nonna’s Restaurant! The food was absolutely outstanding. The shrimp saganaki was hands down the best I’ve ever had—packed with flavour and simply unforgettable! I also tried the goat with pasta, and I absolutely adored it. Delicious, comforting, and full of flavour! And let’s not forget their excellent sourdough bread, which was the perfect complement to the meal.
If you find yourself wandering through the charming streets of Plaka, Nonna’s is definitely worth a stop! Wonderful food that makes you want to come back for more. A true Greek culinary delight! 🇬🇷❤️

An absolute must.
We were greeted at the door without reservations at 7:30 in October and were promptly sat for dinner. My wife and I sat inside by the aisle near the food prep station. The lighting was warm and inviting, and service was friendly. The atmosphere was a bit chaotic, watching the staff hard at work, a brief period of loud music and high volume of foot traffic near our table. However, you need a bit of chaos to be genius.
Every single dish was perfection. We ordered the sourdough bread to start, smoked greens, Gruyère saganaki, pastitsio nonnas as our mains, and tiramisu for dessert. The presentation and flavors to every dish were excellent. The béchamel sauce in the pastitsio nonnas and tomato chutney in the saganaki were highlights.
This was the best restaurant we’ve been to in a while. I will go back next time I am in Athens. Add Nonnas to your shortlist of restaurants to visit!

My wife and I shared the Smoked Greens and the Octopus and bread. The bread came with soft cheese and olives. The olives were much better than we had yesterday at another place. Everything was delicious. We had plenty to eat. Elisabeth, our server, was delightful. All the service was great. They make you feel special.

Most of the food was really NOT pleasant. We had to push ourselves to keep eating because we paid for it all. The taramas was great only. We ordered the watermelon salad which had a very weird texture and burnt taste. The goat pasta was really flat, unlike the photos we saw, the sauce was just watery and most of the taste was pepper. The goat meat was mainly fat but well cooked. The graviera saganaki had tomato chatney which was cooked with the dish? Not sure why, not nice, but also the herbs on top were uncut. The pastitsio which costs 22eur was just pasta with mince sauce. Taramas was amazing and the bread as well. Service was great and polite. The tables were uncomfortable and unstable. Very overrated, wouldn't visit again.

We were thrilled.
The atmosphere was incredibly friendly and cheerful.
The open kitchen meant the team worked together seamlessly and with great enthusiasm, even though the restaurant was packed both inside and out!
(It was a real pleasure to watch as a guest.)
We ordered about eight dishes to share, which was the best decision. This way, we could try everything without missing out.
A huge compliment to the young chef and his fantastic team!

Overall: it is a nice restaurant, but not worth the price. The food is good but I have eaten better for 22€ for a pasta.
pros: the staff speaks the best English and is polite, the location (Plaka)
cons: I found 2 pieces of human hair in my meal, my wife was served sparkling wine per glass – in a cup for red wine , without sparkles. I mean yes it is the details but we are not in a taverna at Iorgos. :)
My take: if this is the best one in Plaka – do not eat in Plaka at all.

We had a lovely night at Nonnas!!! It was the last night of our honeymoon and we had the best time. The food is fresh and delicious. The service was amazing. Highly recommend!!!!

Nonnas is a "restaurant" not a "taverna". Food is modern Greek and delicious. We had the sea bass carpaccio and eggplant salad, followed by grilled squid, all distinctive fresh tastes. The white wine was also high quality.
We sat right under Nonnas huge portrait and, as Aussies, one thing sprung to mind: she was the Greek answer to Dame Edna Everage. Made it all come together: the modern Greek cuisine with a cheeky Nonna.

I would like to revisit to see if we just hit a bad day. Food showed promise, but coordination between the wait staff and the kitchen left much to be desired, especially at this price point. Cocktails took about 20 minutes to arrive, main courses came a couple of minutes after the appetizers, with no room to place the plates. By the time we made inroads on the appetizers, the mains had gotten cold, so it is difficult to judge the food properly. As I said, the food seems promising, but the whole experience lacked polish.

I’m fussy and the food was insane. Twice. We had some mad crispy chilli cheese mountain that we dipped in bread that was generationally delicious. Goat pasta also great. The pasta with mince had the ragu style sauce dreams are made of. This place doesn’t come up on any lists we looked at before we came and it deserves to be on every one of them.

Definitely an upscale restaurant, with elevated menu… not your local kebab shop.
The shrimp dish came plated beautifully and the heads were actually hollow – already removed, cleaned and really to eat!!!
Ordered the sourdough bread with dip & olives to compliment. Perfect!
Espresso was accompanied by a delightful pallet cleanse shot of sparkling water.
Casual and comfortable atmosphere in the heart of other restaurants, but clearly rises above!

What a great find after visiting the Acropolis! We stopped at Nonnas for an Aperol and a quick snack and ended up having such a great experience that one drink quickly became two.
The Nonnas Elixir, their signature Aperol cocktail, was fantastic. For food, we shared the tyrokafteri, sourdough bread, and aged graviera saganaki. Everything was absolutely delicious — creamy, spicy, crispy, savory, and perfect for sharing over drinks. We actually started eating before remembering to take photos, which probably says more about the food than anything else!
Great atmosphere, wonderful food and drinks, and a perfect place to relax after exploring Athens. Highly recommend!

We found this place by chance, and honestly, it was such a nice surprise! We started with the bread, which was amazing and the squid salad
We tried the shrimp saganaki and it was SO good — definitely one of the highlights and something I highly recommend!
Unfortunately, our server forgot to put in our octopus order and then disappeared for quite a while without letting us know what was going on. We were left without service for some time and eventually had to ask another server about the food we were still waiting for. Any ways the octopus wasn’t our favorite.
It was a little disappointing that the service issue affected an otherwise great experience.

We had the most wonderful breakfast at Nonna's! The service was a delight – such warm, friendly, generous people who helped us speak a little Greek and encouraged us despite our terrible accents.
The food was fantastic: I had the scrambled eggs and my partner had the fried eggs plate, that included a generous slab of feta cheese!
We highly recommend Nonna's for a lovely meal in a great setting with sweet people. Thank you very much – efcharistó polý!
